Week #18 - Not a Kid Anymore........
So long Elder Vegara! |
As a missionary, the first 12 weeks, or 2 transfers in the
mission field are called your training. The church created this book with a
weekly companion study routine that we follow for the duration of the training.
It is compromised of reading scriptures, practicing teaching situations and
watching the legendary missionary training videos "The District."
There are 2 weeks where we have to watch 2 hours of The District for the
training schedule. That was pretty fun.
Elder Vergara is no longer my companion. Now I have Elder Da
Silva. They're both really great guys, but really couldn't be more different. I
had a great time with Elder Vergara but I am very excited to get to work with Elder Da Silva. He's from Brazil, so he isn't a native Spanish speaker. He only
has 7 months in the mission and I only have 4, and neither of us are native Spanish speakers so we really have to rely on that gift of tongues from the 7th Article of Faith. To be honest, though, our Spanish is pretty dang good
for the time we have in the mission. But never be complacent; until I can speak
as good as Elder Vergara I won't stop practicing.
Either way I am really excited to get to work here in
Tupungato again.
Yup.
Food update: I ate peanut soup this week. It's a Bolivian dish. It's pretty dang good. But it's still weird. Bolivians are awesome. When
people ask me where I am from I sometimes say "Cochabamba," which is
a Bolivian city. It's not that funny but I think it's funny!
That's all folks!
