Week #23 - Conference
We had a mission wide conference on Thursday with Elder
Packer of the 70. Yes, the son of the late Boyd K. Packer. It's interesting how
prophets and apostles of old and new have children that end up being
prophets/apostles etc. For example, Lehi was a prophet, then Nephi, then Jacob,
then Enos. All of them were family. Interesting. Either way, the conference is
really good. I learned a lot about missionary work. One of the best parts was
the analogy of the Elevator and the Escalator. As missionaries, we often times
are like elevators, we find our investigators and we teach them, but once we're
done teaching them, we have to go back down and find more people to teach, just
like an elevator has to go back down to bring people up. We should be like
escalators, which people never have to wait to use. As missionaries we should
always be ready to find those who are ready to hear the message.
I took a lot of pictures with some good friends at the
conference. A few with people who were on the plane with me to Mendoza, a few
people from my past zones, a few people from the current zone. I think my mom
will attach those pictures.
Last P-day we went paint balling. I didn't get hit. Most
people said it was because I was playing like a wuss but I felt like I did my
part (and we ended up winning, so yeah). I felt kind of like Samuel the
Lamanite when he was preaching to the Nephites and nobody could hit him. It was
nice sleeping without welts all over my body.
I also had a pretty awesome opportunity to confirm someone
as a member of the church on Sunday. I had to do it in front of over 100 people
in a language that I am still learning to speak fluently and normally, so it
was kind of stressful. I did it anyways and it was awesome.
This is the last week of the transfer. I will probably head
to another area of the mission.
That is all.
