Week #29 - Nueva California

Hello everyone!

So instead of being completely trapped in Tres Porteñas we have the opportunity to take the bus to a few other places, such as El Central (The Central), El Divisadero (The Divider), Montecaseros (Monte Homes?) and my personal favorite, Nueva California (New California).

There are palm trees in Nueva California. It's pretty sweet. The only difference is that it only has like 1000 people who live there. It's tiny. It's cool though. There is some really cool members, Miguel who gives us food every week, and the less active family, the Fernandez Family. They are really cool, they are reading the Book of Mormon again. The best part of this area is Miguel's cousins, Celeste and Pricila. Pricila is 9 and really wants to get baptized, so that will probably happen which is super cool. We've worked really hard this transfer and haven't had too much success with investigators attending church, so it was awesome finding Pricila.

This week my comp and I have been talking about something that happens a lot in the mission, competition between other missionaries. A lot of people think that they need to get more baptisms than other missionaries, or become Zone leader before other missionaries, or need to learn Spanish faster and stuff like that. None of that garbage matters. Focus on your own improvement, focus on your own investigators, your own area and help other missionaries do the same. If you do that, you will be more successful and less stressed out. That's probably great advice for outside of the mission too. This is something that took me a while to fix, but I am starting to do that and it is really good.

Welp, that's all. For a food update, I made some really good tacos. You can't find taco shells here so you just use empanada shells instead.

Until next time
